Providing Relief Through Books

Port Book and News is showing some love to first responders in need of a good book. They recently received a generous donation from a community member, allowing them to give books to people working on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Owner, Alan Turner shared, “We are seeing lots of local support.” Acts of kindness such as these book donations provide relief and joy amidst these times of stress and uncertainty.

Turner has witnessed so much kindness from the local community. He shared that people are buying books and leaving generous tips, donating books to the employees, donating books to local kids, and creating opportunities for local heroes to be treated with something new to read.

“It’s really not much, but it’s a delight to do, and people are thrilled to receive the books,” said Turner.
